Pakefield High School

Head of School Weekly Update -Friday 1st July

Dear Parents and Carers

I can’t quite believe we only have 15 school days left before the end of the academic year. It feels as if time really has flown by, but we still have a busy few weeks ahead of us.

Our new Year 11 begin their first round of mock exams on Monday, kicking off with Geography and maths. I have been asked a few questions about the best way to prepare and revise for these mocks – for me, GCSE Pod remains the best resource to use, particularly the check and challenge activities to review learning. If you are unfamiliar with this resource, students can access their account by entering a few simple details on the GCSE Pod log in screen here.

Next week, we will be running a series of anti-bullying workshops for all students. These are designed to be deliberately hard hitting, going beyond the surface of what bullying means to exploring the impact on victims of bullying. If you would prefer for your child not to attend these workshops, please contact the main office.

We celebrated Pride Month in school this week, with each subject having a ‘do now’ activity related to Pride at the start of their lessons. These started with a ‘fact about Pride’ and a ‘word of the day’ to allow students to explore and discuss terminology. Thank you to Miss Wright for organising this.

You’ll remember that I wrote about our first Sports Day in two years last week. I am pleased to report that this was a great success, and we received some excellent coverage in The Lowestoft Journal – you can see this online here.

Finally, we are making our final preparations for the Pleasurewood Hills end of term trip. We need to confirm numbers with them on Monday, so won’t be able to accept any further payments after this. I’ve booked sunny weather for the day so it’s going to be a great way to celebrate the end of a busy year – more details next week.

With best wishes for the weekend!
